ICIBE Miss CEO

“Cultivated Empowered Official” Scholarship Series

Mission: Cultivate the minds of young ladies to obtain leadership positions and leverage their status to empower other women to be successful in their career endeavors.

The first Miss Indiana Black Expo (IBE) pageant was held in 1970 before individual IBE chapters were formed. This was the brain child of Miss Phyllis Carr, who believed there should a Queen to reign over the black expo summer celebration.  Years later as chapters began to form across the state, each local chapter had a chapter pageant sending contestants to Indianapolis were a State Queen was crowned.

The Indianapolis Chapter of the Indiana Black Expo (ICIBE) has provided scholarships to deserving young ladies of color since 1980 and it has a rich tradition within the Indianapolis community. We want to continue the legacy of empowering our young ladies to be successful leaders in their communities with a great new fresh approach!
