In honor of major global holidays, the International Marketplace Coalition will host a
free, public celebration welcoming others to learn about different cultures from around the world with a month-long display and one-day event.
The Haitian Association of Indiana will have a display paying tribute to Haitian Flag Day available for viewing starting on Saturday, May 1 – Saturday, May 22. The Global Village Welcome Center will also be unveiling galleries featuring artifacts from Mexico, Venezuela and the Philippines on Saturday, May 1.
In partnership with local cultural organizations, the groups will host an event on Saturday, May 22 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. featuring performances, food trucks and educational programming.
The event will celebrate the following holidays with local cultural organizations :
Grupo Folclórico Macehuani celebrating Cinco de Mayo
Asociación de Venezolanos en Indiana celebrating Cruces de Mayo
Mabuhay! Philippine Cultural Community with SAYAW: Philippine Cultural Dance Community celebrating Flores de Mayo and Santacruzan
The Haitian display and celebration event will be held at the soon-to-open Global
Village Welcome Center developed by the International Marketplace Coalition (4233 Lafayette Rd., Indianapolis, Ind. 46254).
